In 2007, Joy Casey - director of Adoption Ministry - traveled to Ethiopia and contacted the director of the YWAM base in the capital city of Addis Ababa.  For two weeks, she traveled the length of Ethiopia meeting Christian leaders, visiting orphanages and asking God to show her His purposes.  Little did she know that this contact would catapult Adoption Ministry into the very heart of Ethiopia's urban squalor to link arms with Christian brothers and sisters struggling to bring hope to marginalized children & mothers. 

Adoption Ministry is an official NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) in Ethiopia.  We are now reaching all the way around the world to aid orphans and widows in Addis Ababa, Adama, Nekemte, Dembidollo and Gimbie.

To participate in culturally sensitive humanitarian efforts for orphans and widows in Ethiopia through a partnership with YWAM Ethiopia and other Christian organizations here and abroad.

Adoption Ministry upholds the intrinsic value of human life, traditional Christian principles and Christ's command to support and uplift the poor.  It is our privilege and responsibility to share resources entrusted to our agency to serve the needs of orphans and widows in Ethiopia.  By working alongside YWAM Ethiopia and local churches, we will prayerfully endeavor to meet the needs of the poorest of the poor.

OUR VISION

Adoption Ministry YWAM-Ethiopia extends practical support to widows and orphans by:

• Financially supporting designated institutions caring for orphans in Ethiopia
• Helping children reach their full potential through Christian character-building, life skills and vocational training
• Extending services beyond the orphanage walls to support women and children in the community who are without hope 
• Empowering widowed mothers to access skills training and employment to be able to financially support their families
